Bookcase Styling

NEW ON THE BLOG!

I am chatting all about our newest living room addition; our flanking custom bookcases. I can finally say, our living room is complete thanks to these substantial bookcases. I am still trying to decide if the living area, or the office ( Click to see Office Reveal ) is my favorite room in the house right now. I would probably say the living area, because this particular, rectangular room has given me much grief in designing! I am so thrilled to see my vision come together.

BOOKCASE STYLING

Our matching bookcases stand seven foot tall and really add emphasis to what was a large and blank wall. This wall was the largest wall in our living room, and it perplexed me for quite sometime. I wanted to fill the space, but also make it functional. The swivel upholstered chairs and side table were found at Ashley Furniture, links provided below.

Styling these bookcases came easy, because I knew I wanted to incorporate my husbands love for fowl game. His prized Blue Goose sits atop one of the bookcases, accompanied by collectors duck decoys on the opposite bookcase. I added vintage books in shades of red. I sourced our vintage book finds all from Antique Tobacco Barn in Asheville, North Carolina. Gold decor finds from Home Goods and thrift stores accentuated to the gold embossing on the books.

Civil war prints sourced from eBay and Etsy are framed in 16x20 frames from Hobby Lobby. These Americana prints paired perfectly with our books of Old World nostalgia.

When it comes to our home, my goal is for it to feel warm and welcoming, but also clean and simple. I am still following my less is more rule, and I love decorating that way. However, my number one key to any styling tip; is to make it personal. These bookcases embody both BJ and I, from the birds to the red books. Create spaces you love with personal touches, and you will find it always stands the test of time. Now, I am onto the next room in our house! Can’t wait to share it… until next time y’all!
